When creating the concept for the Eastwell Manor shoot, Freya and I had a few objectives in mind:
To create a styled shoot with a real wedding feel
Styled shoots have become increasingly common in the industry, and rightfully so, as they offer a great opportunity for vendors to showcase their creative capabilities. However, these shoots often lack the warmth and fun of a real wedding day experience, raising the question: will engaged couples see themselves in these images?
Freya and I were determined to create that authentic “real wedding” feeling. To accomplish this, we joined forces with a talented group of UK vendors and orchestrated an entire "real wedding day." We ate, sang, danced, and most importantly—just had a great time! The atmosphere was warm, collaborative, creative, and fast-paced. It truly felt like a wedding.
Our gorgeous models, Tilly and Conner—who, in fact, are not models—pulled out all the stops to create truly emotional moments. Photography is all about crafting an experience that evokes the emotions I want to capture. Authenticity can’t be fabricated.
2. To celebrate England as a wedding location
Many Brits go to great lengths to escape the UK for their weddings, often jetting off to sunny European coasts. However, we felt that the UK itself offers incredible beauty worth celebrating.
Eastwell Manor, with its dramatic Neo-Elizabethan architecture and lush, ethereal greenery, perfectly captured the charm of the English countryside. Stone and Stem Flowers enhanced this enchantment with stunning floral sculptures featuring alliums, blousy roses, and asters.
3. To create a bold and original design
We wanted this shoot to be anything but ordinary. Freya and I dared to dream big during the concept stage, where no idea felt too extravagant. We envisioned chandeliers, climbing greenery, patterned tablecloths, and an abundance of texture.
The modern, sculptural ruffles of Anna Lewis’s show-stopping wedding cake echoed the texture and volume of Tilly’s bold Millia London gown. We couldn’t be happier with how the overall concept came together — feminine, romantic, and quintessentially English.
